Building A Sporting Nation

This 4-week course (Edition 3) examines the policy, economics, and socio-cultural dimensions of sport in India. Through 8 classroom sessions, 8 guest talks from sports industry practitioners, and structured readings, participants will develop frameworks to understand the challenges and opportunities in India’s sports ecosystem.

The course is delivered online with Saturday classroom sessions (9 AM–1 PM IST) and Wednesday guest talks (7–8:15 PM IST).

Trace how sports systems have evolved and understand the forces that have shaped their development in India and around the world.

Map India’s sports ecosystem and examine the key institutions, stakeholders, opportunities, and challenges within it.

Examine what governments do well in sports, where they fall short, and why effective policy implementation remains challenging.

The Markets

Explore how businesses and markets can drive sporting growth while understanding the limits of a market-led approach.

The Role of Sports in Society

Understand how sport influences health, education, identity, inclusion, communities, and broader social outcomes.

Explore how families, communities, civil society, fans, and citizens can shape participation and the development of sport.

Eligibility

Open to anyone with an interest in sports policy and gender equity. No prior background in sports or policy required. Registration via application form.
