Dr. Jean A. Garrison

Clyde E. and Jerrine N. Professor of Public Service, University of Wyoming

Dr. Jean A. Garrison is the Clyde E. and Jerrine N. Professor of Public Service in the School of Politics, Public Affairs, & International Studies (SPPAIS) at the University of Wyoming. She is also the founding director of the Center for Global Studies (2014-19, 2020) and former head of the Global and Area Studies Program/International Studies Program (2008-14), as well as interim department head for Modern and Classical Languages (2014-15). In 2015, she was a senior fellow at the Free University of Berlin. She is also a past recipient of a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellowship, where she worked in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs in the U.S. State Department in Washington, DC. She is the co-editor of Polarization and Deep Contestation (Oxford University Press, 2024), and the sole author of three books focusing on foreign policy advisory systems, U.S.-China relations, and Chinese energy security, along with numerous articles focusing on American foreign relations.
