Special Invited Talk on GEOAI and Geospatial Intelligence
On Wednesday, September 16th, Dr. Y. Nithiyanandam delivered a special invited talk for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), an organisation under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on GEOAI and Geospatial Intelligence, bringing together the growing applications of artificial intelligence, geospatial technologies and spatial intelligence.
The session explored how GEOAI is transforming the way geospatial information can be analysed, interpreted and applied to real-world problems. The discussion highlighted the intersection of artificial intelligence with satellite imagery, geospatial data and analytical methods, and how these technologies are contributing to the evolving field of geospatial intelligence.
The talk also provided an opportunity to discuss the broader role of geospatial intelligence in understanding places, patterns and spatial relationships, while highlighting the growing importance of combining geospatial technologies with AI-driven approaches.
The session reflected the Takshashila Institution’s broader engagement with geospatial science, GEOAI and geospatial intelligence, and its efforts to build awareness and capacity around emerging applications of these technologies.
