The Takshashila Institution hosted a conversation with Bruno Macaes, author of the book “World Builders - Technology and the New Geopolitics”

On 30 October 2025, the Takshashila Institution hosted an insightful conversation with Bruno Macaes, author of the book “World Builders: Technology and the New Geopolitics”, in dialogue with Nitin Pai, Director of the Takshashila Institution. The wide-ranging and engaging discussion focused on the theme ‘Technology and the Changing World Order’, touching upon a number of abstract ideas about the functioning of the world and its future. Looking beyond unipolar, bipolar and multipolar, Bruno emphasised that the main question is not about the number of poles, but about how the world is organised. There are no longer western principles or liberal principles in dominance even if the US continues to remain a superpower. Further, the US and China are competing to build the world of the future. For Bruno, if you are a world builder you can decide how the world will work. You can change the rules occasionally; but if you change them all the time, you may destroy the system.
