How Do We Govern Hyperdiverse Societies?
Nitin Pai, Co-founder & Director of Takshashila Institution, will be delivering a a talk on ‘How Do We Govern Hyperdiverse Societies?’ at the Santa Fe Institute, on May 11, 2023, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm US Mountain Time. The talk will discuss the challenges of managing hyperdiversity with some illustrative examples from India and invite the participants to think about how liberal democratic societies might address them.

The Takshashila Institution, in collaboration with the British Deputy High Commission, Bengaluru, co-organised a two-day event on India, UK and the Indo-Pacific on March 26-27, 2023. Given the significance of the Indo-Pacific, the event saw three themed panel discussions by experts who presented their views on the potential for India and the U.K. to partner across domains and shape the world order. Students and alumni from Takshashila also attended the event.

The Takshashila Institution, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Evolutionary Biologists, organised a 3-day Evolutionary Biology Workshop from Friday, March 10, 2023 to Sunday, March 12, 2023. The objective of the workshop was identifying insights from evolutionary biology for application in building public policy frameworks.

Takshashila Hosts the 1st Church Street Forum on Tech Policy
The Takshashila Institution organised the first edition of the Church Street Forum on Tech Policy on Friday, March 3, 2023. The roundtable discussion saw the participation of members from India Stack, venture capital firms, tech companies, academia, and digital rights organisations. The discussion focused on India’s ability to harness its technological prowess to boost national power and influence geopolitics in a meaningful way. Avenues for engagement with domestic policymakers and collaboration with international partners were also discussed.

Takshashila at the BIC Hub’ba 2023
Takshashila Institution collaborated with the Bangalore International Centre for the 4th edition of BIC Hub’ba 2023 on February 25th & 26th, 2023. Faculty and staff from Takshashila made presentations and led discussions at the Policy Adda, as part of the festival. The event had an interesting mix of policy wonks, members of civil society organisations, and a curious audience.

The theme for the conference was ‘A New Way to Analyse Climate Change using Biological Reasoning’. The discussion focused on biological reasoning frameworks that can assist in fast-tracking climate action. The participants discussed human behavioural tendencies which impede urgent climate action.
