Research Analyst, Geospatial Research Programme
Role Overview: We seek a motivated and skilled Research Analyst to join our unique Geospatial Research Programme, which is doing pioneering work in the field of geospatial intelligence. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop and expand your expertise in geospatial tools and techniques. A relevant degree in related fields is necessary, and prior experience in similar roles is highly preferable.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis:
β Conduct in-depth research on geospatial intelligence and related topics that align with Takshashilaβs work (Geopolitics, Technology developments, Policy recommendations, International relations).
β Analyse spatial data using geospatial tools and techniques.
β Come up with interesting topics related to the domain, develop comprehensive reports and presentations based on research findings.
β Collaborate with senior researchers and contribute to policy papers and publications.
Data Management:
β Collect, process, and manage geospatial data from various sources.
β Ensure data quality and accuracy through rigorous validation techniques
β Maintain databases and documentation for geospatial research projects.
Tool Utilisation:
β Utilise geospatial software (e.g., GIS, remote sensing tools) for data analysis and visualisation.
β Stay updated with the latest developments in geospatial technology and incorporate new tools and methods into research workflows.
Collaboration and Communication:
β Work closely with multidisciplinary teams within the institution.
β Communicate research findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
β Assist in organising workshops, seminars, and conferences related to Geospatial Research.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
β A degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
β Advanced degrees or certifications in geospatial technologies are a plus.
Technical Skills:
β Proficiency in geospatial tools such as GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), remote sensing tools, and spatial data analysis software.
β Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex geospatial data.
β Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for geospatial analysis is desirable.
Experience:
β Prior experience in a research analyst role or similar positions involving geospatial data analysis and research.
β Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality research outputs and publications.
Soft Skills:
β Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
β Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Roles and Responsibilities
β Support the Programme Manager in coordinating the programmes end-to-end activities from admission to programme closure.
β Monitor programme communication with students on different platforms (Example: Slack, LMS, Email, etc)
β Attention to detail to ensure schedules are adhered to, processes followed, data captured and validated diligently
β Support the Programme Manager on all activities and ensure quality control is maintained across the programme

β Familiarity with tools and metrics needed to evaluate a programme
β Capacity to identify and minimise risks
β People skills: Ability to resolve conflicts, demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism when dealing with stakeholders
