Pranay Kotasthane on Federalism in Contemporary India at the Army War College, Mhow

Pranay Kotasthane, Deputy Director at the Takshashila Institution, addressed the Higher Command of the Army War College, Mhow, Madhya Pradesh on “Federalism in Contemporary India” on Wednesday, July 7, 2023.

Pranay spoke about Indian federalism as an ongoing political negotiation. He explicated the difference between federalism and decentralisation, and gave an account of how the theories of federalism have played out in India since independence. He discussed a range of contemporary issues that have a bearing on federalism in India, including delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, absence of institutions for intergovernmental negotiation, and migration.
