Conference on Reviewing India’s Coastal Security Architecture

The Takshashila Institution and the US Consulate, Chennai, hosted a roundtable conference on reviewing India’s coastal security architecture at The Hyatt MG Road, on 23 September 2016.

The event was attended by Eric Lund, Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate, and Jon Bonnar, Deputy Consul General, Australian Consulate, Chennai.

The event also saw eminent personalities from across India such as Commodore Udai Rao (Retd.), SPS Basra, Additional Director General Coast Guard (Retd.), Chaitanya Chandel, CEO of Baruni Systems, Pushpita Das, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, and Jose Paul, Adjunct Professor at AMET University and Member Research Board of the Indian Maritime University, Chennai amongst others.

The roundtable discussion brought together experts who brainstormed ideas to secure India’s coastline, effectively and efficiently. The discussion highlighted challenges faced by India’s coastal security/commercial organisations and presented steps to address them. It analysed the experiences of other countries such as the United States and Australia in dealing with coastal security issues.
