Graduate Certificate in Public Policy

Common questions.

Answers to questions we hear most often about the GCPP — eligibility, fees, scholarships, the weekly schedule, the in-person workshop, and deferment. These apply to all GCPP specialisations.

No. We have deliberately not sought government accreditation. Our priority is to offer the best public policy education in India to individuals who seek it. Treat the GCPP as a programme that sharpens how you think and expands your network, not as a qualification for formal career advancement.
No. The Takshashila Institution does not offer placements. That said, alumni have moved into public affairs consulting, think tanks, civil society, and private corporations. Several have gone on to master's and PhD programmes in public policy at universities worldwide.
The Open Course in Public Policy (OCPP) is a free, self-paced introduction to public policy in India. The GCPP is a structured 12-week programme with live classes, faculty interaction, an academic conference, an in-person workshop, and graded assessments. Completing the OCPP earns you a scholarship towards the GCPP.
Three or more years in technology, government, media, civil society, or business is ideal to get the most out of the course. But we also welcome early-career professionals and recent graduates from any discipline. Everyone follows the same curriculum.
No. Students from anywhere are welcome. All webinars run on IST (Saturdays, 9:30am–3:30pm), so check whether that time works for you. The in-person workshop near Bengaluru is mandatory for the Advanced Public Policy and Technology and Policy specialisations, but can be deferred to one of the next two cohorts.
₹42,000 plus 18% GST. The fee is non-refundable once paid, but admission can be deferred to one of the next two cohorts at no extra cost. Participants bear expenses for travel to the venue, food, and accommodation for the workshop. The workshop takes place over three days near Bengaluru.
Yes, a limited number of merit and need-based scholarships are available. Apply for financial support only if you genuinely cannot afford the fee without it. You will be asked to explain your need and may have to submit supporting documents. Early applicants have a significant advantage.
Live webinars run on Saturdays, typically 9:30am–3:30pm IST. Occasional weeknight sessions (after 7:00pm IST) are scheduled subject to the availability of guest speakers and faculty. Students who attend 70% or more of live sessions typically perform well.
Roughly 7–10 hours, including classes, readings, and assignments. Everyone works at a different pace, so this estimate serves as a general guideline.
Yes. The Policy Simulation Workshop is held over three days near Bengaluru in week 10 (17–19 July 2026). Students who cannot attend can request deferment with reasons and complete it with one of the next two cohorts. Without it, you receive a Citation of Completion, convertible to the full Graduate Certificate once the workshop is done.
