Pay It Forward
As someone who has been through a Takshashila programme, you already know what we do and why it matters. What we are asking for is sustained support — an annual contribution at whatever level works for you, with a commitment to keep it going for five years.
There are roughly 10,000 Takshashila alumni spread across India and beyond. As you’re one of them, you probably share a few traits with the others—even if you’ve never met (an imagined community in a true sense). You think in frameworks. You’re suspicious of easy answers. You believe India deserves better policy, and you think ordinary citizens have a role in making that happen. You’ve probably annoyed at least one person at a dinner party by saying “well, but what’s the opportunity cost?”
That instinct to think about public problems with rigour rather than rhetoric is what Takshashila brings to the table. Over the past decade, we have put thousands of professionals, civil servants, journalists, entrepreneurs, and students through our courses. But here’s the thing about independent policy institutions like ours: they are structurally hard to sustain. We don’t charge tuition that covers our full costs. We don’t take positions that attract partisan funding. We don’t tailor our research to suit a donor’s preferences. That independence solely depends on having a broad, diversified base of supporters who care about the mission more than any specific output.
This is where alumni come in. You’ll find the giving tiers and payment options below. Pick one that fits, and commit for five years.
