The Takshashila Institution hosted a #BookLounge conversation with author Shoba Narayan on her latest book Namma Bangalore: The Soul of Metropolis on Friday, October 6, 2023. Sowmya Nandan, Head of Corporate Affairs at Takshashila moderated the discussion. Shoba shared tidbits from her experience of living in Bengaluru city and soaking in its food, arts, culture, lingo, traffic, odour, and natural beauty. The audience also pitched in enthusiastically with their diverse interactions, likings, and disappointments with the metropolis.

About the Book:

What makes Bangalore different from other cities in India? What are some great restaurants for authentic Karnataka food? Where do you go to find a community of wine lovers in Bangalore? What makes Shivaji Nagar special? How does Bangalore deal with its heritage buildings? Is there a nature community in Bangalore? Where do you go birdwatching in this city? What are some great places to shop? Who are the movers and shakers of this city?
In lucid lively prose, author Shoba Narayan writes about Bangalore, the city she has lived in for close to two decades. Namma Bangalore is a series of essays, which will give visitors and new Bangaloreans a taste of what it means to live in India’s most genteel and cosmopolitan city.
