Bangalore Security Dialogue 2024: Shaping India’s Airpower Future
The Takshashila Institution and Dynamatic Technologies Ltd jointly hosted the inaugural Bangalore Security Dialogue (BSD) on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Bengaluru.
Under the theme of Accelerating India’s Airpower Transformation, the daylong event brought together defence experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to deliberate the emerging trends in the aerospace domain.
Key highlights included a panel discussion moderated by Aditya Ramanathan, Research Fellow at the Takshashila Institution, featuring Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari (Retd.), Air Vice Marshal Anil Golani (Retd.), Prof. PM Soundar Rajan, and Dr. Udayant Malhoutra. The conversation adopted a solutions-based approach with regard to the challenges of securing India’s skies while keeping pace with offensive and defensive technological advancements.
Participants also engaged in a closed-door simulation exercise, responding to a hypothetical scenario involving a breakthrough in Chinese airpower capabilities.
The event further included interactive exhibits, such as a drone lab walkthrough and showcases by Bengaluru-based defence tech companies. A standout attraction was a full-scale advanced fighter aircraft presentation, which highlighted its design, capabilities, and combat philosophy. The day concluded on a positive note, with shared optimism about India’s airpower future and a commitment to ongoing innovation and dialogue.
