AI in Policing - Second Hackathon of Law Enforcement and Policing Fellowship (LEPF)
On 26th and 27th July, the Takshashila Institution, in partnership with the Indian Police Foundation, conducted the second hackathon of the first cohort of the Law Enforcement and Policing Fellowship (LEPF). The Second Hackathon of LEPF explored how Artificial Intelligence can be used to modernise policing efficiently and ethically by addressing the mounting challenges of policing.
LEPF mentors and eminent experts, Mr M N Reddi, Mr Ramphal Pawar and Mr Javeed Ahmad shared critical insights on the need for AI integration in policing while discussing its risks and systemic challenges. In the two-day hackathon, fellows were equipped to craft policy solutions using an emerging tech governance framework. Fellows working in three groups came up with policy solutions for streamlining FIRs, enhancing operational policing through predictive tools and supporting fairer and faster trials through technology.
