Pavan Srinath Quoted in The Quint

Pavan Srinath, has been quoted in The Quint in an article titled, “Amnesty Row Motivated by Poll, Laws Allow for Selective Targeting.”

The article concerns the recent case of an FIR being filed against Amnesty International on charges of Sedition. It also discusses the symptoms of a systematic crackdown against foreign NGOs taking place over the last few years.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"NGOs have been a target of government action since about 2010, including Amnesty in particular. India’s tax laws, foreign money laws, visa rules and penal codes provide many options for governments. No NGO or person can often comply with these laws without violating at least 10 percent of them. Punitive action is often selective."
