Y. Nithiyanandam, professor and the head of the Takshashila Institution's Geospatial Program, was quoted in Carbon Brief on China Briefing 6 February 2025: Emissions halt; ‘Green’ Asian Winter Games; US-China tariff war.

He was quoted as saying “The Yarlung Tsangpo basin is already ‘vulnerable’ to ‘climate change and disasters’, which together ‘raise serious questions about the long-term viability and safety of the project’.
