#BookLounge: Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar with Ms. Rohini Nilekani

The Takshashila Institution hosted a book discussion event on 19th November 2022 with Ms. Rohini Nilekani on her latest book Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar: A Citizen-First Approach. Our PGP students Ashokha Varshini, Sudeep Surendra and Kanishka Chatterjee joined as co-panellists. Mahek Nankani, Program Manager, PGP moderated the discussion. The event was attended by Takshashila’s alumni, students and staff.

Ms. Nilekani spoke about her journey as a philanthropist & a member of civil society. In interaction with the PGP students, she discussed the need for building broad-based civilian coalitions of responsible citizens for effecting change in society. She stressed on the importance of citizens to be engaged in matters of national interest and elaborated the role of think tanks and civil society in making a difference in society, markets and the State.

A collection of over a decade of articles, interviews, and speeches by Rohini Nilekani, Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar: A Citizen-First Approach, showcases her journey in the civil society sector and outlines her philosophy of restoring the balance between the state and markets, by positioning society as the foundational sector.
