Advanced Military Technologies
The AMT research at The Takshashila Institution charts the impact of high-technology on India’s military transformation.
What We Do?
Some critical and emerging technologies play a crucial role in the rapidly changing character of war. As states increase investments in their military capabilities, our AMT research evaluates the impact of space power, nuclear weapons, and key emerging technologies on military doctrines, strategic balance, technology sharing mechanisms, and arms control initiatives.
Our Areas of Focus
Takshashila’s Space Power initiative evaluates the role of space technology in international relations, their role in supporting terrestrial military operations, as well as the evolution of space as a major strategic domain.

Nuclear Weapons
This initiative studies the ongoing evolution of the global nuclear order as growing international rivalries and emerging technologies change the size and character of nuclear arsenals.

Critical and Emerging Military Technologies
This project examines how remotely piloted vehicles, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing will shape India’s armed forces in the 21st century. It also delves into what needs to be done to build Indian capabilities in these areas, and India’s diplomatic engagement in international negotiations concerning these technologies.
