  • Job Description:

    As a Programme Manager, you will contribute towards the strategic growth of Takshashila’s education initiatives. You will be responsible for managing one or more of our public policy education programmes (https://school.takshashila.org.in/). You will work with internal and external stakeholders to design the curriculum, plan the marketing strategy, create the schedule, execute the programmes, document the processes, report on the progress, and make recommendations on how to scale and improve the programmes.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Taking ownership and coordinating from admission to programme closure.

    • Multi-tasking and sticking to processes

    • Ensuring high quality is maintained across planning, monitoring and programme delivery

    • Accountable for a professional and amicable communication with students on different platforms (Example: Communication platforms, LMS, Email etc)

    • Attention to detail is paramount to ensure schedules and SLAs are adhered to, SOPs, checklists, processes followed and data captured timely and validated diligently

    • Ensure checks and balances are operationalised

    • Stakeholder Management:

      • Passion to play a people facing role

      • Nurture team building

      • Be a guide to the students enrolled for the Programme

      • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders effectively

    Skills and Qualifications

    • (Post) Graduate degree from a recognised institution

    Must haves

    • Having atleast 5 years of demonstrable project management experience in a similar role

    • Sound knowledge of project management methodologies and working proficiency

    • Demonstrable proficiency in tools for project management including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) & Learning Management System administration

  • The Takshashila Institution is currently seeking a Staff Research Analyst to join our High Tech Geopolitics Programme to lead its work under the following areas:

    Politics of the Information Age

    The Future of Cyberspace

    About the High Tech Geopolitics Programme:

    The High Tech Geopolitics Programme has 2 objectives.
    To map the geopolitics of technology and guide public policy towards achieving India’s national interests. The programme covers research areas such as semiconductors, rare earth materials, space, quantum technologies, international standards, and more.

    About the Research Areas:

    Politics of the Information Age examines the influence of the internet on global and domestic politics ranging from its ability to shape public discourse, affect electoral processes to providing abilities/tools for societies to mobile at an unprecedented scale and pace.

    A core project under this research area will cover the Governance of Digital Communication Networks (social media, messaging). The project aims to understand the nature and effects of their dominance from the perspectives of competition, data, and narratives. Its objective is to confront the trade-offs, and create principles, framework(s) and policies to govern digital platforms according to India’s political and socio-economic context.

    Future of Cyberspace will examine the evolution of the internet. including themes such as decentralisation of the web, applications of blockchain, VR/AR, the splintering of the internet, and its global governance from technological, political, and economic perspectives.

    Responsibilities:

    Leading Takshashila’s ongoing project on India’s strategy for governing digital communication networks (social media, messaging).

    Identifying additional research projects under the aforementioned Research Areas as well as the broader High Tech Geopolitics Programme.

    Creating or expanding analytical frameworks and assessing implications of developments in fast-paced word technology geopolitics from the perspective of India’s national interests.

    Drafting written materials, including reports, policy briefs, blog posts, fact sheets, and op-eds and supporting production of podcasts, videos.

    Consulting with stakeholders, organising roundtables, and communicating research outcomes to policymakers.

    Working with the Media and Outreach team to disseminate research publications and findings.

    Engaging with external stakeholders, including policymakers, as necessary

    Eligibility:

    A good understanding of technology policy in the Indian context and global trends related to social media platforms, the information ecosystem.

    Familiarity or interest in subjects at the intersection of technology, politics and geopolitics.

    Candidates with 2+ years of experience conducting policy research with technology, government, or civil society stakeholders will be strongly preferred.

    Strong analytical and economic reasoning skills

    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, particularly in writing

    Ability to multitask on projects

  • The Takshashila Institution is currently seeking a Research Analyst to join our High Tech Geopolitics Programme to work on India’s evolving space policies and its potential to develop space power.

    About the High Tech Geopolitics Programme:

    This programme maps the geopolitics of technology and guides public policy towards achieving India’s national interests. Besides space policy, the programme covers research areas such as semiconductors, rare earth materials, quantum technologies, international standards, and more.

    About Space Power:

    Space Power is concerned with the commercial, legal, and strategic aspects of outer space affairs from an Indian national interest perspective.

    India’s domestic space sector has transformed in recent years. This transformation has been driven by the expanding role of the private sector, policy and regulatory changes, and international developments. Since space power is an increasingly important component of comprehensive national power, this research area will focus on providing timely and relevant policy recommendations on building Indian space power.

    The researcher’s role will cover the following topics:

    • Policies, laws, and regulation for strengthening India’s private space sector

    • Enhancing India’s international space cooperation

    • International treaties and agreements on space exploration, governance, and sustainability

    • Strategic drivers and implications from the use of space

    You can find Takshashila’s path-breaking recommendations in The New Space Policy 2020 and the Recommended Draft Space Activities (Regulation) Bill, 2020. Takshashila has also worked on aspects of space cooperation such as human spaceflight and lunar exploration as well as space diplomacy and strategic affairs in space.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct research on both domestic and international aspects of India’s ongoing efforts to build its space power.

    • Identifying additional research projects under Space Power as well as the broader High Tech Geopolitics Programme.

    • Creating or expanding analytical frameworks and assessing implications of developments in fast-paced high-tech geopolitics from the perspective of India’s national interests.

    • Consulting with stakeholders, organising roundtables, and communicating research outcomes to policymakers.

    • Producing research outputs including discussion documents, policy briefs and engaging relevant stakeholders as needed.

    • Reaching out to a wider audience through podcasts, op-eds, videos, public webinars etc.

    Eligibility:

    • An understanding of the role of technology in India’s economic development and international engagements.

    • Familiarity or interest in subjects at the intersection of technology, politics and geopolitics.

    • Strong analytical and economic reasoning skills.

  • The global landscape is undergoing a significant shift towards deglobalisation, i.e., states are resorting to protectionist measures, industrial policies, and policies that promote self-reliance. These measures inevitably impact India's interests. At Takshashila, we strive to understand the prevailing geoeconomic trends and identify strategies to help India navigate these changes and safeguard its interests.

    In pursuit of this objective, we are expanding our geoeconomics research team and are looking for highly motivated individuals dedicated to geoeconomics research to join our team. Apply if you want to do something awesome, unusual and exciting.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Conducting research: Undertake extensive research on geoeconomic trends, policies, and developments; Analyse economic data and identify patterns, and emerging themes.

    Policy Analysis: Evaluate the impact of geoeconomic policies; Identify potential opportunities and challenges.

    Writing: Prepare clear and concise reports for diverse audiences (i.e. policy makers, general audience); Draft opinion pieces to be published in leading publications; Record podcasts, short videos and other outputs to broadcast the ideas.

    Supporting geoeconomics fellowship project: Help shortlist applicants, identify research themes, guide fellows, review projects. (The geoeconomics fellowship programme is our latest initiative to build a comprehensive body of knowledge at the crossroads of economics, geopolitics, and strategy. This programme aims to identify and nurture a community of scholars from diverse disciplines. These scholars will work under the mentorship of leading geoeconomics experts to produce high-quality research output.)

    Outreach: Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance research outcomes and contribute to a broader understanding of geoeconomic issues; Organise events such as conferences, roundtables, panel discussions, keynotes.

    Requirements:

    ● Master's degree in Economics or a related field.

    ● Proven experience in conducting high-quality research, preferably with a focus on geoeconomics. Must be familiar with gathering and analysing data.

    ● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be detail-oriented, self-starter and goal oriented.

    ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

    ● Candidates with the proven ability to network will be given preference.
