Nitin Pai quoted on the recent case of the Greenpeace activist

Nitin Pai quoted in a piece on the case of the Greenpeace activist Priya Pillai, who was offloaded from a flight to London on the grounds that her name figured on a database issued by the Government of India, of individuals not allowed to fly out of the country.

“Nitin Pai, who heads a Bangalore-based think-tank, The Takshashila Institution, said that preventing Pillai from going abroad was wrong in principle. “It is compounded by the fact that it was counterproductive, now that a lot more people know about her and that she has been able to speak to her audience. Stopping her has been merely symbolic,” he said.”
