Nitin explains how Manmohan Singh’s policies were based on faith and not political realities of both the countries.
“Nitin Pai, the director of the Takshashila Institution, a nonprofit in Bangalore, India, said that Mr. Singh’s ultimate failure was in not reading the politics at play both at home and in Pakistan. “Manmohan Singh’s policies and agreements towards more cordial relations with Pakistan were based on faith, and not political realities in both the countries,” he said. “Mr. Singh chose to ignore that Pakistan’s civilian leadership was powerless, and it was the military establishment which mattered.”
