Acclaimed scientist, historian and writer, Professor Rajan Gurukkal interacted with Takshashila scholars and staff on 15th April, 2015. Professor Gurukkal is a Sundararajan visiting Professor at the Centre for Contemporary Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The discussion was focussed on his recent book”Rethinking Classical Indo-Roman Trade: Political Economy of Eastern Mediterranean Exchange Relations”. Professor discussed the sea routes used by trade merchants, the development of ports and interaction between civilizations in Southern India. He highlighted that history unlike other knowledge areas, is a contested field.
While answering a question, Prof. Gurukkal explained that knowledge is an object of confrontation and its relationship with doubt.
