The Takshashila Institution conducted a first of its kind combined workshop for its graduate studies programmes– Graduate Certificate in Public Policy (GCPP) as well as Graduate Studies in Strategic Studies (GCSS). The workshop was conducted at the Takshashila office in Bangalore between 26th and 28th October 2018.
The workshop witnessed participation from over 70 students who belonged to both the programmes. Combined sessions included a wide range of topics that were relevant for both, GCSS as well as GCPP. The workshop had sessions on decision making models of government, foreign policy challenges for India, international trade, narratives in policymaking and balance of payments among others.
The students were taught by the best faculty in the respective areas including Srinath Raghavan, Narayan Ramachandran, Gurcharan Das, along with Takshashila’s own Nitin Pai, Anupam Manur, Pranay Kotasthane, and Pavan Srinath.
The workshop was attended by students belonging to an array of professions including engineers, lawyers, social change makers, students, civil service aspirants, and entrepreneurs – contributing to well-rounded discussion through the course of the workshop.
The workshop will be followed by live online webinars on various subjects taught by domain experts over the coming weeks. The students of both programmes will meet once again in the ninth week of their course. In the second workshop, the GCPP students will work on a policy simulation exercise and the GCSS students will participate in a war game.
The GCSS and GCPP are both 12 week long programmes filled with domain-specific lectures, workshop and interactive sessions. While the GCPP is aimed at equipping individuals with a solid understanding of the foundations of public policy, the GCSS is for those who wish to learn strategic studies and international relations.
