Nitin Pai, Director of the Takshashila Institution participated in the the 15th Doha Forum 2015 & Enriching the Middle East’s Economic Future Conference, held between 11th and 14th May, 2015 in Doha, Qatar.
The conference featured discussions on Arab Spring issues, prospects for democratic change, social security matters, regional and international stability, human development, security, economy, energy, media and human rights as well as regional challenges and crises.
Nitin was in the panel on “Changing Balance of Power in Asia” with Cindy Fan (Vice-Provost, UCLA), Mitsunari Okamoto (MP, Komeito Party, Japan), and Zhao Changhui (China Exim Bank). The panel was moderated by Anthony Nash (Chief Economist, Complete Intelligence).
Nitin spoke on what will it take for India to become a swing power of the world. His column “The Asian Balance” in Business Standard, a regular feature since 2010, has consistently argued for India’s national interest in context of Asia’s balance of power.
