Pragmatic | Political will and hats

Sigh. Politicians.

It is a common lament in India. Only if our leaders had political will. That is a term Daniel Drezner hates to the core. Here is why:

As I’ve said numerous times on the blog, “political will” is usually tantamount to saying, “if only politicians would completely ignore short-term political incentives and do the right thing!”  Or, to put a finer point on it, “if only politicians stopped acting like politicians!”[Link]

Sigh! Have you heard the one on why a politician should have three hats?

One for throwing into the ring, one for talking through, and one for pulling rabbits out of if elected. ~Carl Sandburg
