Explaining the suspended US military aid to Pakistan

Now that the US has suspended some military aid to Pakistan, there is a surfeit of analysis — mainly from Pakistan, but also in the US (See WaPo and LAT) — warning the US of the grievous consequences of its action. Cut through the jargon and you will hear what has been said on twitter by @majorlyprofound:

US suspending aid to Pakistan Army will diminish the leverage that the US did not have over Pakistan Army.[Link]

As the bard said, all this analysis “is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
