Nitin Pai speaks on maritime power at Southern Naval Command’s Navy Day event

Nitin Pai addressed an event organised by the Southern Naval Command on the occasion of Navy Day (Dec 4th, 2020). In his remarks, Pai noted that employing the navy during the 1971 war demonstrated that India was not merely fighting a border war but was a regional power that the world must take notice of. Quoting Rear Admiral (Retd.) Sudarshan Shrikhande, he emphasized that, “will creates its own capacity” and no navy will ever have the ideal capacity for the missions it is called upon to do. As it did in the 1971 war, the Navy’s leadership must use existing assets and resources its possesses to achieve military objectives.
