Media coverage on Centre for Smart City Governance

Takshashila Institution held its second Bangalore Diplomatic Circle along with the launch of the Centre for Smart City Governance on 10th July 2015 at Taj Vivanta, Bangalore. The centre was inaugurated by Mr. M.N. Reddi, the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, Mr. V. Ravichandar, Chairman and Managing Director of Feedback Consulting, and Ms. Amitha Prashanth. Founder of Discovery Village and Prayag Montessori School. Also present at the event were foreign diplomats from Canada, Germany, Israel, and the UK.

The Bangalore Diplomatic Circle is a quarterly event of the Takshashila Institution to facilitate discussions on foreign policy and international relations with experts and practitioners based in Bangalore.

The new Centre for Smart City Governance will create a body of knowledge that will address the challenges of governing smart cities. Through new research, the centre will work towards injecting fresh and bold ideas into the national thinking around smart cities.

The Times of India: Pavan Srinath, head of policy research at Takshashila Institution, said: “Smart cities need smart leaders and a smart citizenry. The centre will educate aspiring leaders, administrators and citizens on how to make their cities smarter.”

The New Indian Express:  M N Reddi said “Public perception is a major challenge for any policing system. In an increasingly connected world, there’s no way governance can be on a different plane than the citizenry,”

OneIndia:  The Centre for Smart City Governance will be a focal point on urban policy research, education and public outreach, and is an initiative of the Takshashila Institution which is an independent, non-partisan next-generation think tank.

Niti Central: Ravichandar, Chairman and Managing Director of Feedback Consulting, noted that, “Institutions must come forward to present fresh, new ideas for governing India’s cities. There is an absence of skilled governors in Indian cities and capacity building is critical.”
