Lawrence Liang is a legal researcher and the co-founder of the Alternative Law Forum. Liang is also the author of “Sex, Laws and Videotape: The public is watching” and “Guide to open content licenses,” published by Piet Zwart Institute.He is currently pursuing his PhD on the idea of cinematic justice at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The discussion revolved around the history and the philosophy of film censorship in India. His presentation explained what happens when law encounters cinema while tracing the history of censorship. Lawrence discussed the various judgments of the Supreme Court and the challenges of the mediatized world.
