Gomtibai Govindji Prize awarded to Gopal Devanahalli

The Takshashila Institution awards the Gomtibai Govindji Prize to Gopal Devanahalli for distinction in the study of public policy. The Gomtibai Govindji Prize has been instituted by her family to recognise the overall best performing student in Takshashila’s Graduate Certificate in Public Policy programme. The prize comprises of a cash award and a citation.  Gopal is  are from the ninth batch of the GCPP that was conducted in 2014.


Gopal Devanahalli is currently Sr.Vice President at Manipal Healthcare, a leading Healthcare chain in India. He is responsible for developing new businesses for Manipal including Public-Private Partnerships and Digital Healthcare. Gopal has around 23 years of Corporate exprerience and has worked at Infosys for 15 years and Kotak for 7 years. He has a degree in computer science from BITS, Pilani and a PGDM from IIM, Calcutta.

Gopal is of the view that people from diverse fields including corporates can contribute to solving the big problems that India faces – creating jobs, healthcare, primary education etc. and believes that the GCPP course from Takshashila will help him be a serious contributor.

The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy is Takshashila’s flagship educational programme. The 12-week course is networked and largely online, and meant for working professionals and full time students to take from around the world. The course is offered three times a year and the tenth batch of the course is set to begin in February 2015.
