Due to the persistent adversarial nature of the Sino-Indian border environment, and because China is now a de facto maritime neighbour, India needs to examine its options of leveraging sea power.

How should the Indian Navy deal with the rising Chinese footprint in the Indian Ocean? Should India also increase its presence in the mid- and long-term in the South China Sea?
