India and Brazil enjoy a broad-based and ever-growing relationship. Ever since the two countries established a strategic partnership in 2006, ties have expanded in fields such as energy, defence, investments, and mineral resources, besides a promising partnership in science and technology, as most recently reflected in the Brazil-India Plan of Action adopted in January 2020. The countries also share a commitment to democracy, economic growth and development, and a more equitable global order.
So how can the Brazil-India partnership support both countries in tackling current and future challenges?
In our series, “India, Brazil & the Future,” the Takshashila Institution in collaboration with the Embassy of Brazil, will seek to stimulate discussions to answer this question. The conversations will bring together experts and decision-makers on a variety of issues that are shaping bilateral ties. These will range from global health to digital governance, from defence to biotech, and from outer space cooperation to data protection. The conversations will take place through a series of online events and podcasts.
The series will begin on Friday, 2 July 2021 at 1800 IST with an online event titled, Strengthening a Strategic Partnership. The interaction will feature Suresh K. Reddy, India’s Ambassador to Brazil and
Andre Aranha Correa do Lago, Brazil’s Ambassador to India. Subsequent sessions will focus on specific areas.
