Shreya Biswanath Patel

Shreya Biswanath Patel is a Project Associate at the Takshashila Institution and is currently working on the upcoming Graduate Certificate in Strategic Studies Programme.

She has a PhD in US Area Studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her doctoral thesis dealt with role of disasters in altering public policies. She was awarded the prestigious Nehru-Fulbright scholarship in 2015-2016 and served as an adjunct faculty in the American University, Washington DC.

Her research interests are international relations, foreign policy, and risk mitigation. She has worked on threat mapping the impact of climate change on food security in India for the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. Shreya had a brief stint with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies where her research focused on India's domestic and foreign policy, defence and security in South Asia, and Indo-US relations. She has written articles for Mainstream Weekly, The Diplomat, Policy forum, etc. She has been part of International Labour Organization project involving rights and work and enhance social protection along with decent employment opportunities focusing different states in India. She has taught courses on ‘Indian History & Politics’ and ‘US Governance & Policy’ at Ansal University, Gurgaon. Shreya started her career as a journalist and worked with the United News of India.
