Book Launch: From Chanakya to Modi - The Evolution of India’s Foreign Policy
The Takshashila Institution invites you to the Bangalore launch of Aparna Pande’s latest book: From Chanakya To Modi: The Evolution of India’s Foreign Policy. The book explores the deeper civilizational roots of Indian foreign policy and identifies the neural roots of India’s engagement with the world outside. The event will be in the form of an informal discussion between Aparna Pande, Nitin Pai (the moderator) and the audience.
About the Author: Aparna Pande is the director of the Initiative on the Future of India and South Asia, at Hudson Institute, Washington D.C. She is the author of Explaining Pakistan’s Foreign Policy: Escaping India and the editor of Contemporary Handbook on Pakistan. She studied in the University of Delhi, JNU and Boston University.
Blurb about the book:
'Aparna Pande has written an insightful account of India's world view - both its long-term continuities and its steady evolution - explaining clearly how Indians use metrics that differ from those applied by other cultures and nations when they consider their place in the world. From Chanakya to Modi is required reading for anyone who wishes to understand this re-emerging power and its likely impact on Asia and the world.'- Shivshankar Menon, Former Foreign Secretary and National Security Adviser
The venue for the event is slightly unconventional too: the library corner of Communiti, a popular culinary hangout, on Residency Road. The book will be available on sale at the venue.
